As part of this year’s World Mosquito Day, Exa Ventures and HomePack Medical Services have conducted a health screening at Potters Village Orphanage at Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region.
With the support of five health personnel, a total of 63 people at the orphanage were screened for Malaria, Dermatitis, Hypertension, Cyesis, Anemia. Tonsillitis, Bronchitis among others.
The purpose of the event was to create awareness and educate the staff and children of the orphanage on Malaria prevention, the need for treated mosquito nets and the proper use of mosquito repellents which were donated to them.
Director of HomePack Medical Services, Semanu Adoboe, called for an effective collaboration with other organizations for stronger partnership and resources to sustain the outreach events.
“The outreach to the orphanage should be sustained and conducted more frequently. Malaria prevention techniques should be intensified at the orphanage. More fruits and vegetables should be included often in the diet of the children. Future outreach programs should entail screening parameters for anemia and malnutrition.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Exa Ventures, Doris Adoboe, on her part said supporting the programme is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
