Joyce Blessing praises Kwasi Ernest as she recounts how their working relationship began

Famous Ghanaian Gospel singer Joyce Blessing has revealed how her professional relationship with Kwasi Ernest, CEO of Media Excel, first took shape.

In a recent interview, Joyce revealed that she initially reached out to Ernest through Facebook. Before making contact with him, she had messaged several producers, but none had responded—until Ernest finally did.

“I sent a message to Media Excel Productions on Facebook. When I moved to Accra, I didn’t know anyone, so I started following many producers, hoping for a response. I kept checking my messages, but nothing came through. Eventually, God intervened, and Ernest replied. At that point, I had already shot my first music video, so I sent him the song, and he said I was good,” she recounted.

Although Ernest had stepped away from active music production at the time, he encouraged her to keep in touch. Joyce, determined to push forward, kept messaging him until one day, he invited her to his office.

“When I got there, he finally sat down to watch my video. He told me I had potential and that if given the right platform, I could succeed. However, since he was on a production break, he couldn’t promise full support just yet. He advised that we wait and see how things unfolded,” she said on UTV.

Recognizing her dedication, the ‘I Swerve’ singer noted that Ernest eventually stepped in to support her.

“I managed to gather some money and asked him to pay Metro TV for promotions on my behalf. That’s when he realized how serious I was. He wanted to help fully but encouraged me to also invest in myself while he supported me along the way.

“We started with a photoshoot and worked on a few things before I ventured into live worship sessions. That was the turning point. Nobody knew me back then, but through live worship, people began to take notice. Those who heard me sing kept inviting me to perform. It wasn’t easy—sometimes I had invitations but lacked money for transportation,” she recalled.

Joyce expressed deep gratitude to Kwasi Ernest for his unwavering support.

“I never gave up, and Ernest stood by me through it all. I will always be thankful to him. He played a huge role in making me visible to the public and the media. He would take me along to media houses, introduce me to producers, and encourage them to play my music. That exposure was crucial in getting me noticed.”

Additionally, the Gospel singer extended her appreciation to her ex-husband, Dave Joy, acknowledging his contributions to her musical journey.
