KOD reaffirms President Mahama’s vision to revolutionize Ghana’s Creative Industry
The Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), has reinforced President Mahama’s commitment to revitalizing Ghana’s creative sector, emphasizing the administration’s strategic approach to industry growth.
Speaking with TV3’s King Kwaku Mensa, KOD highlighted how the President’s deliberate appointment of creatives and industry professionals reflects a clear vision for reshaping the sector.
Confident in the government’s transformative agenda, he stated:
“This administration has incorporated a remarkable number of creatives into leadership roles. It’s both an honor and a huge responsibility, and we must ensure significant progress in the creative space.”
KOD further outlined the administration’s determination to enhance copyright protections, with comprehensive reforms expected in the coming four years.
“A key focus for us is shifting the narrative on copyright laws in Ghana. We anticipate major advancements in that space,” he affirmed.
He also emphasized the impact of the Black Star Experience initiative, designed to continuously promote Ghana on the global stage.
Additionally, KOD reassured stakeholders that the government remains committed to solidifying Ghana’s position as the West African Hub for the Grammys, building on conversations initiated by the previous administration.
“We are determined to see this vision come to life because it holds immense potential for our musicians,” he remarked.
Beyond the music industry, KOD highlighted the government’s bold ambition to position Ghana’s film industry among Africa’s top three, stressing the importance of strategic policies and dedicated efforts to make this a reality.
