Charterhouse’s Robert Klah explains why DopeNation missed out on 26th TGMA nominations
Robert Klah, Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse Productions, has addressed the absence of DopeNation from the nominations list for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Amid speculation over the duo’s apparent snub, Klah clarified the situation during an interview on Hitz FM, revealing that DopeNation did not file for nomination despite having a hit song, Zormizor, in the year under review.
He further explained that Charterhouse attempted to secure their consent for nomination but was unsuccessful.
“One would expect that in a year like this, their place would be solidified in the nominations. Unfortunately, since they did not file, and our efforts to reach them for consent proved futile, they were not included,” Klah stated.
Meanwhile, when asked about the situation by DJ Slim, DopeNation gave a rather cryptic response, avoiding a clear confirmation of whether they had filed or not.
In a post on X, DJ Slim inquired: “I’m hearing you guys didn’t file for nominations, and even when the research team picked up your songs, you were unresponsive to the award scheme. How true is this?”
DopeNation responded: “We have been battling a lot that can’t be said out of respect for certain individuals in this hypocritical music space. However, can we all recall from 2021? Some may understand this isn’t just about awards, sir. Gradually, this industry will be losing its ‘TRUE ARTISTS.’”
Their response has fueled further debate, leaving fans to speculate on the underlying issues at play.
