Andy Dosty discloses Shatta Wale’s early plan to sign King Paluta before fame beckoned

Before King Paluta’s name echoed across Ghana’s music charts and award stages, dancehall icon Shatta Wale had his eyes set on signing the then-underrated rapper to his record label—a revelation made by popular media personality Andy Dosty.

Appearing on the Asetena Pa Podcast with host Akoto Mansa, Andy Dosty shared intriguing details of a moment in time that could have dramatically altered the trajectory of King Paluta’s career. According to him, Shatta Wale’s interest was ignited following the pair’s powerful collaboration on the 2020 song “Ahodwo Las Vegas.”

“At the time, King Paluta hadn’t blown. He was virtually unknown,” Dosty revealed. “But Shatta Wale saw something in him—he really wanted to sign him.”

The Hitz FM presenter went on to disclose that he played a behind-the-scenes role in those early talks, engaging in detailed strategy sessions with Shatta Wale on how best to shape Paluta’s future in the industry.

“I remember spending nearly an hour with Shatta Wale just discussing King Paluta—how to build his brand, how much it would cost to push him,” he said.

Remarkably, King Paluta had no idea these conversations were taking place. And while Andy Dosty and Shatta Wale’s relationship may have been strained at times, Dosty still facilitated a subsequent collaboration between the two artists on the soulful track “Adiepena.”

Fast forward to today, and King Paluta has become a tour de force in Ghanaian music. His blend of hard-hitting bars, cultural storytelling, and lyrical dexterity has carved out a space uniquely his own. From humble beginnings to sold-out shows, his journey is the stuff of inspiration.

Now, as the 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards approaches on May 3, 2025, King Paluta finds himself in serious contention for the highly coveted Artiste of the Year title—proof that the star Shatta Wale once saw is now shining in full brilliance.
