I didn’t support Mahama for personal benefit — Nero X clears the air

Although a number of creatives who supported President John Dramani Mahama during the campaign period have landed roles in the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Ghanaian musician Nero X says he isn’t expecting, nor seeking, any such opportunity.

The ‘Mahama For 2024’ composer explained that his support during the 2024 elections was based on faith in Mahama’s leadership, not driven by personal ambition.

In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, Nero X said he would consider a role aligned with his interests, but emphasized that patriotism—not politics—motivated his endorsement.

“Yes, I’d accept a role that fits my interests,” he said. “But my support for H.E. John Dramani Mahama wasn’t for an appointment—it was about helping Ghana choose the right leader. I believe we made the right call.”

Shifting focus to his music, Nero X recently released Low Key, a personal single reflecting on his music journey.

“Low Key speaks to the struggles and growth I’ve experienced. I’m grateful to everyone who’s supported me,” he shared. “It’s also a reminder to fans to stay motivated—keep working, don’t give up, and make money.”

He added that the song is also a quiet reminder that he’s still actively creating, just under the radar.

Looking ahead, Nero X revealed plans to drop either an EP or full album before year-end.

“My team and I are cooking something special. Watch out for it,” he said. “Keep streaming, follow me online, and share my music. There’s a lot more coming.”
