I’ve grown, I’m ready and I’m back – Stay Jay on his comeback

Ghanaian music sensation Stay Jay is brushing off whispers of retirement with clarity and confidence. The “Shashee Wowo” hitmaker has re-emerged with a bold statement and a vibrant new sound, making it clear he’s nowhere near done.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, the rapper tackled the rumors head-on. “They can go to sleep. My career is very much active. I’ve learned, I’ve grown and I’m now more prepared than ever to embrace and face the world,” he declared.

To drive that point home, Stay Jay has dropped Baajo, a lively Amapiano-infused track that doubles as a celebration of dance and cultural unity. Translating to “come and dance” in Ga, the single invites listeners to let loose — from Accra’s streets to global stages.

Blending the pulsing energy of Amapiano with his homegrown Twi Pop essence, Stay Jay brings a Ghanaian flavor to the South African-born genre, offering fans something both familiar and fresh. The upbeat production, courtesy of SkyBeatz, runs for two minutes and 48 seconds, packed with bouncing log drums, melodious layers, and catchy vocal rhythms.

The inspiration behind the song, according to the artist, came from a moment of unfiltered happiness.
“I was at a gathering with friends, and the energy was just beautiful. Everyone was dancing, laughing and living in the moment. That feeling of connection, that’s what I wanted to bottle up and share with the world.”

The record isn’t just about sound — it’s about spirit. “Whether you’re at a beach party, a roadside bar or dancing in your room, Baajo is crafted to lift moods and spark joy,” he added.

Riding the wave of this vibrant comeback, Stay Jay is also working on a new body of work to cement his return. He’s preparing an EP that explores diverse musical directions while reaffirming his presence in the industry.

“I’m in the process of putting together an EP that showcases a variety of sounds and themes, and I’m really excited about how it’s shaping up and also about dropping my two-pack albums,” he disclosed.
