From Homeless to Household Name: Delay Reflects on 20-Year Rise from Struggle to Success

What began as a battle for survival in 2004 has transformed into a story of entrepreneurial triumph for Ghanaian media icon Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay. From facing hunger and homelessness to running a growing food business with ten product lines, Delay’s latest reflection on social media has struck a chord with many.

“It feels like just yesterday when I couldn’t afford a decent meal,” she shared, recounting the lowest moments of her life, moments that many now find hard to imagine given her current success.

Back then, Delay had no stable housing and no clear direction.

“I had nowhere to live and didn’t know what to do with my life,” she wrote. But two decades later, she sits at the helm of Delay Foods, a venture she started from scratch and has steadily grown. “Today, the small food business I started (Delay Foods), has 10 variants! And we are just getting started!!”

Her post was not only a celebration of her success but a heartfelt expression of faith and gratitude. “I’m sitting here right now, wondering what I did right for God to be this merciful to me,” she reflected.

Beyond the numbers and business milestones, Delay’s story stands as a beacon of hope, a reminder that beginnings don’t define outcomes. To those who may be lost or struggling, she offered encouragement drawn from her own path: “Don’t give up on yourself. Help is coming!”
