Amerado reacts to TGMA snubs and surprises: ‘it still marvels my mind’
Ghanaian rapper Amerado has shared candid reflections on the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, voicing both dismay over certain omissions and appreciation for the success of his peers.
Speaking on Hitz FM, Amerado first addressed what he considered one of the most perplexing oversights of the night, his track ‘Abronoma’ not being nominated for Songwriter of the Year. For him, the snub remains difficult to understand.
“I was expecting to be in the Songwriter of the Year category with Abronoma and up to now it still marvels my mind why I didn’t go in there,” he said, calling the omission one of the biggest letdowns of the awards season.
The rapper then turned to the categories in which he did earn nominations, particularly highlighting his song Ankonam in the Reggae Song of the Year race. Though he was hopeful for a win, he expressed no resentment toward the outcome.
“But with the ones that I got nominated for, I think Ankonam. I expected Ankonam to win the Reggae Song of the Year but then it went to Stonebwoy, which is also fine because Psalm 23 is also one of my favourite songs from Stonebwoy,” Amerado stated.
