Otto Addo unveils Black Stars squad with key returns for CAR and Comoros clashes

Otto Addo

Ghana coach Otto Addo has unveiled a 24-man squad for World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, recalling key players from injury and handing debuts to two fresh faces.

Leicester City winger Fatawu Issahaku and defender Alidu Seidu both return to the fold after lengthy absences. Seidu makes his comeback following an ACL injury that ruled him out of the last international window, while Fatawu has regained fitness and form in the Championship.

The squad also introduces two first-timers: Medeama SC midfielder Prince Owusu and 19-year-old Kojo Peprah Oppong of OGC Nice, both earning their maiden call-ups to the Black Stars.

Among the regulars retained are goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, defender Alexander Djiku, midfield lynchpins Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus, and team captain Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars will travel to Morocco for their Group I fixture against the Central African Republic on October 8 at Stade d’Honneur de Meknes, before returning to host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12.

Currently topping the group with 19 points, Ghana needs just four more to secure a fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage.
