‘If Even 5 People Like My Song, I’m Cool’ – Medikal Explains Why

Medikal

Ghanaian rapper, Medikal, isn’t chasing chart positions or viral moments anymore. What matters most to him now is the emotional impact of his music, even if it’s only felt by a few loyal listeners.

Speaking on 3Music TV, the rapper, born Samuel Adu Frimpong, revealed a shift in his creative priorities. He said making music isn’t about dominating the airwaves but staying true to himself.

“If I do music and even 5 people like the song, I’m cool. I don’t take it personal that my songs have to blow,” he said.

Although his song “Shoulder” has earned major airplay and become a favorite in clubs and on playlists, Medikal admitted it’s not at the top of his personal list. Instead, he has a deeper connection to two lesser-known tracks.

“With all the songs I’ve recorded, I can’t say my favorite song from myself is Shoulder. My favourites are Baddie and DND.

“You won’t really hear them in clubs, and they are not loud compared to Shoulder. Shoulder is everywhere, but songs like Baddie are yet to be noticed,” he shared.

According to Medikal, “Baddie” stands out for its unapologetic sensuality, which he believes connects with listeners on a personal level.

“The content in Baddie is very sexual, and I think many people can relate,” he added.
