King Promise Defends Work Ethic, Dares Critics to Name a Harder-Working Ghanaian Artiste

King Promise

Ghanaian artiste King Promise is confronting his critics head-on, daring anyone to name a Ghanaian artiste who has worked harder than him to reach the pinnacle of the industry.

Fresh from a career-defining moment, winning the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Artiste of the Year in May, the singer insists that every accolade has been earned through relentless effort and dedication.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, November 25, King Promise defended his work ethic and challenged detractors to a comparison. “I’ve worked hardest as TGMA Artiste of the Year winner, and I’m proud of it,” he said.

He dismissed claims that he had “gone quiet” since securing the top award.

“There is this agenda by some detractors to water down my efforts with the claim that I’ve been silent since winning Artiste of the Year. Really? First of all, they should shush! And then go and find out what King Promise is doing,” he added.

The singer emphasized that 2025 has been a year of hard work and remarkable achievements, reinforcing his reputation as one of Ghana’s most industrious musicians.

Since May, he has embarked on the True To Self USA Tour, performing to sold-out crowds in major cities including New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, showcasing his growth on the global stage.

His September collaboration with Nigerian star Mr Eazi on “See What We’ve Done” has accumulated millions of streams across digital platforms, underlining his international reach.

King Promise also expanded his presence in Asia, performing in Thailand and connecting with fans across the region.

Beyond music, he ventured into fashion, attending Paris Fashion Week and strengthening ties with international creatives. In November, he fulfilled a personal dream by collaborating with Chelsea Football Club, filming content at Stamford Bridge inspired by legends such as Michael Essien.

“I’ve been in this game for long to know how people will just rubbish your hard work because you aren’t their favourite. However, this time, I don’t want it to be a noisy debate but one backed with figures and facts. Presently, my song with Mr Eazi has 2.3 million YouTube views, 2.6 million Spotify streams, and 1.5 million Apple Music streams. I performed in Thailand in September; there are pictures to show how successful it was,” he said.

King Promise secured the TGMA Artiste of the Year award at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on May 10, outperforming stiff competition from King Paluta and Stonebwoy. He also won Best AfroPop Song, Best AfroPop/Afrobeats Song, and Album/EP of the Year, further cementing his status.

A committed Chelsea FC fan with a strong focus on fitness and wellness, he shared his Stamford Bridge experience across the club’s official social channels, linking his passion for music and football.

Reflecting on the year’s accomplishments, King Promise believes attempts to downplay his achievements are baseless. He calls on critics to respect his dedication and recognize him as Ghana’s reigning music king, proven not only by awards but through a year of tangible work.

“My new song, Bad Habits featuring Davido, is already making waves. I have worked hard to get here so people should respect my sweat and name,” he further stated.
