Ghanaian gospel singer Celestine Donkor has ignited conversation online with advice that challenges conventional faith perspectives.
In a TV3 interview on February 19, 2026, the celebrated singer was asked what guidance she would offer her 20-year-old self and today’s youth.
Her answer was clear: self-belief must come before faith in God.
“Believe in yourself first. Believe in God second. If you don’t believe in yourself first, and God believes in you, it still won’t work. God believes in you; if He didn’t, He wouldn’t have sent His Son to die for us,” Donkor explained, stressing the importance of confidence in shaping one’s path.
She urged young people to recognise their own value and potential, framing self-assurance as a key to unlocking God’s plans.
“There’s nothing you cannot achieve. Every other voice will be silenced. Every challenge will be overcome. But if God believes in you and you believe in God, yet you don’t believe in yourself, it won’t work. You matter in the conversation about your destiny,” Celestine Donkor further stated.
