NPP communicator KOKA warns against playing Stonebwoy songs at party events

Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team and entertainment critic known widely as KOKA, has sparked debate after insisting that songs by Stonebwoy should not be featured at NPP-organised events.

Addressing the media, KOKA did not mince words, warning that any NPP programme that plays music from the BHIM Nation boss would provoke a strong reaction from him, going as far as suggesting drastic consequences for event organisers.

“If there’s an NPP event and Stonebwoy’s song is played at the programme, they might as well retrieve equipment from the Korle Lagoon,” he said.

He contrasted Stonebwoy’s perceived political posture with that of fellow dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, whom he praised for being more straightforward about his affiliations. According to him, Shatta Wale makes his political leanings clear when he chooses a side, unlike Stonebwoy, who he accused of trying to appear neutral while subtly playing both ends.

“As for Shatta Wale, when he aligns with the NDC, he makes it clear he’s with them. He doesn’t try to play both sides. But Efo always tries to present himself as though he’s wiser than everyone,” he added.

KOKA’s remarks come in the wake of comments made by Stonebwoy at the Black Stars World Cup Fundraiser held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra on March 21, 2026. During that event, the award-winning musician suggested that his song “Jejereje” played a role in the National Democratic Congress’s victory in the 2024 elections.

Responding to that claim, KOKA argued that Stonebwoy’s current stance contradicts his past, insisting that during the NPP’s time in government, the artiste maintained close ties with the party and some of its senior figures.
