Sista Afia Shuns TGMA 2026 After Nomination Snub, Shifts Focus to New Album

Ghanaian songstress Sista Afia says she has deliberately tuned out of discussions around the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards after missing out on a nomination.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Patience Adu, she revealed that her attention has shifted entirely to her music career, particularly an upcoming album she is preparing for release.

She added that she has not been following reactions from industry players, noting that she has not come across complaints about snubs, venue concerns, or other issues linked to the awards scheme.

“I’ve not paid attention because this year I wasn’t nominated so my attention has not been on TGMA. I don’t know who is complaining and who is not complaining. I’m working on my album so that’s where my attention is right now,” she said.

Despite stepping back from the awards conversation, she did not hesitate to show support for two artistes in the Artiste of the Year race, naming Medikal and Wendy Shay as her picks.

She explained that her choice is rooted in personal loyalty and solidarity, describing Medikal as a close associate and expressing a consistent preference for uplifting women in the industry.

“I’m a lady’s girl so I will go for Wendy and I will go for Medikal, because Medikal is my brother and Wendy is my girl. I like girls to win,” Sista Afia stated.
