Wendy Shay Declares She Was Bullied, Not Just Criticised

Wendy Shay

Wendy Shay is drawing a firm line under how she was treated in the public eye, stating clearly that her experience went beyond criticism and amounted to outright bullying.

In a recent interview with Kafui Dey, the “Heaven” singer pulled back the curtain on how her name became a reliable tool for online traction. According to her, conversations about her, whether flattering or harsh, were often driven by the attention they generated rather than their truth.

“If you are someone like Wendy Shay, if they say something about you, it’s going to give them that traction. They’ll use you as bait, whether it’s negative or positive. Once it’s giving them attention, that’s what they go for. But I think now, people are beginning to realize that you don’t have to believe everything you see on social media”, she explained.

Pressed on whether those experiences amounted to bullying, she drew a clear line between perception and reality.

“I didn’t feel bullied, I was bullied,” she stated firmly.

She traced much of the hostility to two recurring patterns: constant comparisons to an artist many fans already held dear, and a growing tendency for people to invoke her name simply to boost their own visibility online.

“The fact that some people felt I wasn’t good enough because they thought I was trying to fill the shoes of someone they loved dearly… and also because they knew that whenever you talk about Wendy Shay, it brings attention. I became easy bait, easy prey,” Wendy Shay disclosed.
