John Dumelo Pays Emotional Tribute to Beverly Afaglo, Reveals How She Changed His Career

Nearly two decades after they first met on a television set in Dzorwulu, Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo is mourning the loss of actress Beverly Afaglo with a heartfelt tribute that has touched many fans online.

In an emotional Instagram post following news of Beverly’s death, Dumelo looked back on the early days of his acting journey and the friendships that shaped his rise in the industry.

“About 20 years ago I walked into the set of ‘About to Wed’ in Dzorwulu. That’s when I met Beverly Afaglo, Prince David Osei, and Yvonne Okyere,” he wrote.

The memories, he explained, go far beyond their time on set. Dumelo credited Beverly for pushing him to grow as an actor at a stage when he was still finding his footing in the entertainment world.

“We starred in one of the best TV series, and Bev brought out the best in me,” he stated.

He also revealed that Beverly played a key role in opening one of the biggest doors in his career. According to Dumelo, she once urged him to contact a producer about a movie role that would later become a defining moment for him.

“Bev calls and says, ‘John, call Salam, they need someone to play the role of a King,’” he recalled.

That recommendation eventually landed him a part in King is Mine, a project he says transformed his path in Ghana’s movie industry.

As emotions poured through the tribute, Dumelo ended his message with deeply personal words about the impact Beverly had on his life.

“I am glad you are resting peacefully now… one day, when I decide to write a book, your name will fill pages,” the Ghanaian actor and politician wrote.
