Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Tests Positive To COVID-19

With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases across the world Nigerian Foreign Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama is the latest high profile person to test positive to the virus.

Geoffery Onyeama, 64, is the first member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet to contract the virus.

Mr. Onyeama shared his status on twitter, “Did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best.”

Onyeama for some time now has helped many Nigerians stranded overseas because of COVID-19 to return home.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Nigeria, President Buhari has been conducting his meetings virtually. In April, Buhari’s former chief of staff, Abba Kyari, died of COVID-19.

Nigeria has so far recorded 36,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 778 deaths.
