GRA Locks Up Presbyterian Health Centre At Assin Praso
Personnel from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have locked up the Presbyterian Health Centre at Assin Praso in the Central Region.
What led to the locking up of the facility is not known. However, according to an eyewitness, Charles Kumah, the Ghana Revenue Authority bagged into the hospital to close the facility down following the hospital’s failure to pay tax the hospital is reported to be owing GRA.
“We were there and all of a sudden we saw policemen entered the hospital with the GRA people. When they entered, they walked straight to the cashpoint after that they came to the dispensary unit. They wrapped the place up with their red tape and locked the place” An eyewitness who had brought his sick wife disclosed to First News.
Patients at the hospital were left stranded as treatment had to be stopped because of the operation by the GRA officials. Doctors of the hospital who were on duty at the time of the operation have been confused over the development.
An eyewitness said most of them were left standing outside dismayed. We attempted to speak with the officials of the Hospital but the officials we contacted refused to speak on the issue.
Efforts by First News to get authorities at the hospital to speak on the incident were unsuccessful.
