Commuters Stranded On Wenchi-Wa Highway For Hours

Commuters who used the Wenchi-Wa Highway were on Friday stranded for hours when a truck traveling from Tema to Wa was involved in an accident and blocked the main Wenchi – Wa road.

It took personnel from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service hours to clear the road for traffic to flow.

These trucks were in a queue for hours. It took the Police hours to clear the truck for the traffic to flow.

Some of the stranded commuters spoke to First News.

A driver, Sumaila Rafick said, “I am traveling to Wa from Techiman, we have spent three hours here because the truck has blocked the road. We have spent a long time here. We cannot get water to drink. We have to walk far before we are able to drink. This has really affected our passengers some after getting to Wa would travel further.”

A commuter, Eric Kele also disclosed that, “I am traveling from Kumasi to Sawla. We have spent three hours here. Because of the nature of the road the truck could not ascend in the process resulting in the incident. If it is fixed it would really help us.
