GES Sacks 11 Teachers Over WASSCE And BECE Malpractices

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has terminated appointment of eleven (11) teachers over West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) malpractices.

In a letter signed by the Deputy Director-General of GES, Lawyer Anthony Boateng on 24th September, 2021 to all concerned GES regional directors said, management of Ghana Education Service (GES) refers to a report from the West African Exanimation Council (WAEC) on alleged exams malpractice by some teachers of Ghana Education Service (GES) during the WASSCE and BECE, 2020.


According to the letter, the officers/ teachers were invited to appear before a Committee at the GES Headquarters, Accra for a hearing over the allegations of their engagement in Examination malpractices.

GES said, during the hearing the teachers admitted the act contrary to Section 3.32(111) of the Code of Conduct for staff of Ghana Education Service (GES).

In view of that, Management directs that the appointment of the officers be terminated from the GES in line with Section 4.3(1V) as contained in the Code of Conduct for staff of GES.
