Dr. Eric Nkansah Appointed New GES Director-General

The Office of the President has named Dr. Eric Nkansah as the new Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

His appointment takes immediate effect according to a letter from the Presidency.

It also comes just a day after Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa was shown the exit because his services were no longer needed at the GES.

Background

Dr. Eric Nkansah was until his appointment the Technical Advisor and Director in Charge of Tertiary Education.

Dr. Nkansah joined Kumasi Technical University in September 2012 (then Kumasi Polytechnic),

He also worked as the Executive Director of Career Spring Institute, a private consulting firm licensed to provide training for members and potential members of local and international professional programmes and specialised training for small, medium, and large corporations.

Within seven years of his leadership, the firm has seen exponential growth in all departments and, ultimately, its balance sheet.

Before joining the University and Career Spring Institute, he was the Sales Manager of the Krofrom Branch of Barclays Bank of Ghana (now Absa).

While working for Barclays Bank of Ghana, he was also lecturing at the Banking and Finance Department of Garden City University College on a part-time basis. Subsequently, he became a part-time Lecturer at the KNUST Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) and Business School.

Dr. Nkansah holds PhD in Financial Economics from the University of Zululand. Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)

He holds Degree in Economics from the University of Cape Coast.
