Aggrieved NPP Supporters In Jaman South Constituency Calls For Election Of New Executives
A group calling itself Aggrieved NPP Members in the Jaman South Constituency of the Bono Region made up of Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and Constituency Executives are calling on the National Executive Council of the New Patriotic Party to address a petition they have sent to them by conducting elections to elect new executives for the Constituency.
They noted that the said elections conducted in the Constituency should be declared null and void because it was not conducted properly.
The Spokesperson of the group, Godfred Kwang addressing a presser said, “Ladies and gentlemen, against the foregoing background, some aggrieved members of the party in Jaman South Constituency have written many petitions to the National Executive Council of the Party. In a video that has gone viral, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justine Frimpong Kodua, has indicated publicly that he has received petitions from aggrieved party members in Jaman South Constituency. We hope and trust that the National Executive Council will take action on our petitions.”
The group attributed the party losing the parliamentary seat to the NDC for the first time in the 2020 elections due to internal party wrangling.
He added that, “We request the National Executive Committee to investigate whether the persons whose names are contained in the purported album submitted to the national office as representing Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and Constituency Executives in the Jaman South Constituency were in fact publicly voted for in line with the Rules and Regulations issued by the National Council of the Party.”
The group also noted that if nothing is done about their request it will be very difficult for the party to recapture the parliamentary seat it lost to the NDC in the upcoming 2024 elections.
