Soldier Killed At Ashaiman Laid To Rest

The deceased 21-year-old soldier, Imoro Sherrif, who was reportedly killed by a mob at Ashaiman, has been buried.

The soldier was buried at the Burma Camp Cemetery in Accra today, Thursday, 9 March 2023. A number of soldiers were at the cemetery to bid their colleague farewell.

His body had been preserved at the 37 Military Hospital Morgue.  The reason for the murder of the young soldier is unknown.

The late soldier was a trumpeter with the Ghana Armed Forces Band in Sunyani, Bono Region.He was however in Accra during the last three weeks before his untimely death for a Military course.

The soldier had gone to visit his parents at Ashaiman where he met his untimely death.

Following his death the military in a sanctioned operation stormed Ashaiman where they brutalised residents in an attempt to fish out the perpetrators.

In the dawn swoop, some 182 residents were arrested and handed over to the military police to be investigated.

A section of Ghanaians, including former President John Dramani Mahama, have condemned the attack on innocent civilians in the course of the operation.
