Dambai: Driver’s Mate Drowns In Oti River

A young man believed to be in his 20’s who is a driver’s mate by name, Attah Donkor has drowned  in the Oti River  at Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.

The unfortunate incident happened on Friday afternoon.

According to information available to First News, the late driver’s mate was swimming in the Oti River when the unfortunate incident happened.

“I am told they were going to Accra with yam but because the ferry was at the other side of the river, he decided to swim a little while waiting but unfortunately he got drowned. People around tried to rescue him but they could not,” an eyewitness told First News.

The late Attah Donkor is a native of Borae Number 2 in the Krachi-Nchumuru District of the Oti Region.

Later on, some fisherfolk came around to support but when he was found he was already dead. The necessary traditional rites have been performed and  he has since been buried.
