10-Year-Old Boy Drowns At Yeji

A 10-year-old boy, David Sitor has met his untimely death when he got drowned at Jakai Number 3, a suburb in the Yeji township in the Pru East District of Bono East Region.

Jakai Number 3  has been thrown into a state mourning following the drowning of 10-year-old David Sitor in the Volta.

The 10-year-old boy, according to sources , had gone to swim with his friends when the unfortunate incident happened.

Residents of the community rushed to the bank of the Volta Lake when they heard about the incident. The body of the deceased was later retrieved by Fisherfolks.

Godwin Awudi Assemblyman for Yeji Traditional council electoral Area also disclosed how they were able to retrieve the body of  the boy.

“Immediately I arrived from church I had a call from Jakai Number 3 that a child had drowned in the Volta Lake. Quickly I rushed to the community, I have to commend the community for the step they took by forming a search team. They cast their net and we were able to retrieve the body. I have informed the Police and the chiefs in the area about the incident.”

Godwin Kedzi, the headman for the Jakali Community has been speaking on how he received the information on the incident.

“They were able to serve two out of the three children but unfortunately one got drowned. We cast our nets about three times before we were able to retrieve the body.”

The Yeji Police Command has begun an investigation into the incident.
