GOPDC Awards Scholarship To 51 Tertiary Students

The Ghana Oil Palm Development Limited (GOPDC) producers of Kings Vegetable Oil has presented educational scholarship worth over two hundred and thirty thousand (GHC 230,000) Ghana Cedis to some selected fifty-one tertiary students in the Kwaebibirim Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The presentation forms part of GOPDC’s corporate social responsibilities to assist brilliant but needy students in its operational areas.

Making the presentation on behalf of management, Mr Andrew Enyam Andoh, the Community Relations Manager, speaking to the press in a colorful ceremony, indicated that GOPDC has over the years, assisted students in second cycle institutions with educational scholarship until the inception of the Free Senior High (SHS) policy in 2019 hence the company’s current focus towards tertiary students.

According to him, some continuing tertiary students are already beneficiaries of the scholarship, and the 51 are the new additions.

Mr Andrew Enyam Andoh entreated the students to make good use of the opportunity and admonished all to rally support for the company’s socio-economic development of Kwaebibrim and the country as a whole.

The beneficiary students who were full of joy after the presentation promised to make good use of GOPDC’s gesture with a firm assurance that they will take their studies seriously so as to reciprocate what GOPDC has done for them.

In all 17 communities including Asuom, Kwae, Mintah, Okumaning, Kusi, Takrowase among others benefited from the scholarship.

Andrea Amakye studying nursing at the University of Ghana, was grateful to the management of the Ghana Oil Palm Development Limited (GOPDC) for the scholarship.

” This scholarship is going to help me in my studies. I am grateful to (GOPDC). I am not going to let them down.”
