Over 1,237,000 People Lost Their Lives In Road Accidents Between January And June 2024
Statistics from the National Road Safety Authority has it that 1,237 died from road accidents in Ghana from January to June 2024.
According the Public Relations Officer of the National Road Safety Authority, Pearl Adusu Sateckla most of the accidents were as a result of wrong overtaking from drivers.
“The contributory factor could be due to head-on collisions, which often result from wrongful overtaking and speeding. Research indicates that approximately 90% of drivers on our country’s roads do not adhere to the established speed limits.”
Many of Motorists In Bono Region Do Not Wear Crash Helmet
A significant number of motorcyclists and their passengers in the Bono Region are disregarding road traffic regulations by riding without helmets, posing a dangerous risk to their lives.
This alarming trend has prompted the Bono Regional National Road Safety Authority to intensify public education efforts, urging residents to always wear crash helmets while riding motorcycles.
The authority aims to instill a culture of safety and prevent accidents among motorcyclists and their passengers in the region.
Abigail Atinpoka Adongo, the Bono Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Authority, speaks on what is being done to ensure motorcyclists in the region wear their crash helmets.
“We will continue to educate them on the need for them to wear their crush helmet.”
