Wechiau Paramount Chief: We’ll Vote For Bawumia
The Chiefs and people of Wechiau in the Wa West Constituency of the Upper West Region have pledged their support for the candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections. They cited the party’s consistent dedication to the development of their area over the years as the reason for their commitment.
The chiefs highlighted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, showing respect for traditional institutions by formally announcing his presidential candidacy to them, further strengthened their resolve to support him.
Naa Imoru Nandon Gomah II, the Paramount Chief of Wechiau, gave this assurance while welcoming Dr. Bawumia to his palace on Monday, July 22, 2024. Dr. Bawumia was visiting as part of his constituency-focused nationwide campaign tour, where he engaged with traditional authorities, religious and opinion leaders, and the youth to outline his vision for Ghana’s future.
Naa Gomah II expressed gratitude for the numerous benefits their area has received whenever the NPP is in power. He mentioned significant projects such as the creation of the Wa West District in 2004, the Agenda 111 hospital project, dams and dugouts under the One Village, One Dam initiative, road constructions, and the Free Senior High School and School Feeding programmes.
The Paramount Chief bestowed his blessings on Dr. Bawumia, assuring him of their support to continue the good works of the NPP government after December 7, 2024, and wished him God’s blessings and protection.
In response, Dr. Bawumia thanked the chiefs for their support and urged the people of Wa West Constituency to give him and the NPP the opportunity to build on the progress made. He emphasized his vision for Ghana’s future, which includes training children for the future and equipping the youth with the necessary skills to create jobs and compete globally.
