Bishop Salifu Amoako has condemned the attack on a journalist by some of his church members.
Members of Alive Chapel International (ACI) reportedly assaulted an EIB Network journalist on Thursday, October 17, 2024, after a court session related to the car accident involving Bishop Amoako’s son, which claimed two lives.
During a church service on October 20, 2024, Bishop Amoako addressed the incident, criticizing the actions of his church members.
He described their behavior as disgraceful, stating that it had worsened his already difficult situation.
Bishop Amoako urged his congregation to practice self-control.
“ACI family, I urge you to have self-control. Some of you came to the court and disgraced me. You didn’t act wisely. You have added more to my battles. What you did at the court was very disgraceful. You shouldn’t have done that,” he said in a video shared by Citi News.
“Do you know the damage you’ve caused me? I’m already fighting what has happened, and now the media is attacking me. The case is in court. We don’t go to court to fight; we go to interpret the law,” Amoako added.
He also warned his members about the legal consequences of their actions. “Some of you were lucky not to be arrested. Some went there to cause trouble. By now, you should be in jail. I didn’t ask you to come and fight for me.”
Meanwhile, Bishop Amoako, his wife Mouha Amoako, and one other individual have been granted bail of GH₵50,000, with two sureties each, by an Accra Circuit Court following the fatal accident caused by their 16-year-old son, Elrad Salifu Amoako.
The accident, which occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, claimed the lives of two girls, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh.
