Years after hurling serious allegations at his former manager, Bulldog, Shatta Wale has finally stepped back and offered a public apology.
In 2022, the outspoken Ghanaian dancehall star stirred national outrage when he claimed that Bulldog, otherwise known as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, had a role in the murder of Fennec Okyere. The late Okyere, who managed rapper Kwaw Kese, was killed in 2014. Shatta Wale’s allegations quickly triggered legal action, with Bulldog filing a defamation suit in response.
But the controversy took a new direction on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, when Shatta Wale issued a formal retraction and apology.
“On November 2, 2022, I published a series of posts on my social media pages and handles about MR. LAWRENCE NANA ASIAMAH HANSON alias BULLDOG. The publications included a statement that I have now come to know was generally misunderstood or misconstrued as MR. HANSON’s confessions to me that he had a hand in the murder of FENNEC OKYERE (alias FENICKS).
“I wish to retract each of the statements in the said series of publications, as I did not mean to say that MR. HANSON had a hand in the murder of FENNEC OKYERE. I also wish to apologise to MR. HANSON and all the persons whom my publications of November 2, 2022, have caused pain, agony, anguish, shame, ridicule, or hatred,” Shatta Wale wrote.
