Otto Addo Names 24-Man Black Stars Squad for World Cup Qualifiers Against Chad and Mali

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled a 24-man line-up for Ghana’s September fixtures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where the team will battle Chad and Mali.

The squad blends familiar names with fresh faces. Established stars Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Inaki Williams, and Antoine Semenyo all retain their places.

Among the newcomers is Derrick Arthur Köhn, the Union Berlin left-back who finally earns his debut call-up. The 26-year-old joined Union from Galatasaray this summer after a standout loan spell with Werder Bremen, where he made 27 Bundesliga appearances and scored twice.

Kamal Deen Sulemana, now with Atalanta after leaving Southampton, has also been included following a lively start to his Serie A campaign. Elisha Owusu, sidelined by injury for much of last season, makes his return, while 19-year-old Caleb Yirenkyi, whose performances at the Unity Cup in London caught the eye, is rewarded for his progress at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

The defensive unit sees the comeback of Tariq Lamptey, alongside call-ups for Christopher Bonsu Baah and goalkeeper Joseph Anang, who plays his club football in Ireland.

Ghana sits atop Group I in the African qualifiers with 15 points, having recorded five wins in six games. The Black Stars will play Chad at Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before welcoming Mali to the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.
