Sista Afia has chosen to live without a committed relationship for about eight years, not because she isn’t ready, but because her heart remains tied to a man who has never loved her back.
The Ghanaian singer disclosed on The Delay Show that this unreturned affection has dominated her personal life and made it difficult to start anew. She said one man has always been at the center of her world, yet despite her devotion and care, he has never matched her efforts.
“Maybe it’s because the person I love doesn’t feel the same way about me. There’s someone I love so much, but he does not love me back. It’s funny how this world works. Someone out there would want me so badly that they would do anything to be with me.”
Although she has received attention from other men, Sista Afia admitted she has been unable to move past her attachment. The strong emotional connection, she explained, has prevented her from opening up to anyone else.
“We have been together for a long time, and I’ve shown him my love through my actions. I always make time for him, but he doesn’t reciprocate that effort.
“That’s why I feel I love him more than he loves me; he knows it too. I haven’t been in a committed relationship for eight years, and it’s all because of him,” Sista Afia stated.
