I Don’t Go Where Pretenders Meet: The Industry Is Full of Fake People – Kwaw Kese

Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has shed light on why he intentionally distances himself from industry gatherings and other artistes’ performances.

He disclosed in an interview on Hitz FM that his decision stems from years of disappointment with colleagues who act supportive in public but fail to show genuine loyalty when it matters most.

Recalling a past experience, Kwaw Kese shared that he once organized his own concert and invited several artistes he had previously supported on their stages. None of them attended. Instead, they appeared at another show held the same night by a younger musician.

That moment, he explained, reinforced his belief that the entertainment industry is filled with insincerity and fake relationships.

“People that I have shown love to multiple times on their stages did not show up. But that same night, there was another show somewhere, a Gen Z was having a show, and they showed up for the Gen Z,” he said.

Kwaw Kese noted that he prefers to stay away from such environments because he is not one to hide behind fake smiles or forced friendships.

“I am not a pretender. I’m not the type who will come and smile with you while something else is going on in my head. So, when pretenders meet, I don’t go there. The industry is full of fake people. They’ll see you today, smile with you, but behind you, there’s a lot going on,” the ‘Abodam’ rapper averred.
