Some family members of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, are calling for a full and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

In a statement issued on October 13, 2025, Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, and his elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh, revealed that the family had received three conflicting accounts regarding how the beloved musician died.

“These contradictory versions have left the family deeply concerned and distressed, raising serious questions about the true cause of death and whether proper medical and investigative procedures were followed,” the statement read.

According to the family, the inconsistencies warrant a transparent, joint inquiry between Ghanaian and German authorities to determine the truth. They have reached out to the German Embassy in Accra, the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) in Wiesbaden, and the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin to request their assistance.

The family also urged Ghana’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to question Lumba’s second wife, Priscilla Ofori, and his manager, Philip Kwabena A. (popularly known as Roman Fada), to help “uncover the truth about the death of their loved one, Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosuh.”

They confirmed submitting a collection of official records, including medical documents, correspondence, and confirmation from Transition Funeral Home, regarding how the late musician’s remains were handled.

“We, the family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, loved him dearly and are devastated by the unclear and conflicting reports surrounding his death. We have confidence that both the German and Ghanaian authorities will work together to uncover the truth, ensure justice, and bring transparency to this painful situation,” said Akosua Serwah Fosuh and Ernestina Fosuh.

The family outlined three separate narratives surrounding Lumba’s death:

  • Eyewitness Account:
A friend of the late musician reportedly received a call from Mr. Fosuh on the night of the incident, inviting him to his residence. Upon arrival, a woman living with Lumba allegedly barred him from entering. After waiting nearly two hours, he left, only to later receive a call that Lumba had died at home.

  • Police and Coroner’s Report:
According to a report submitted by the Ghana Police Service to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra, Lumba, who was diabetic, experienced leg and waist pain on July 24, 2025. He was taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan, during which he was sedated due to anxiety. After the scan, he developed severe pain and was transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he passed away two days later, on July 26.

  • Account from Ms. Priscilla O.:
Lumba’s second wife, Priscilla O., initially told relatives that he had been taken to the Bank Hospital, where an injection caused him excruciating pain before his death. However, the next day, she allegedly gave a different account to a cousin, claiming that Lumba had died at home, after which she cleaned and dressed the body before seeking help from a friend, Serwaa A., to transport him to the hospital. The family says Ms. Priscilla has since refused to discuss the matter further.

Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after what was described as a short illness. He was 60 years old.
