Veteran Kumawood actor Alex Kofi Adu, well-known as Agya Koo, has talked about his private nature and why he does not maintain friendships.
During an interview with Nana Kwame Adjei Bohyen on Angel FM in Kumasi, the veteran actor revealed that solitude has been his comfort zone since childhood, saying he finds it difficult to connect deeply with people.
He shared that the only person he ever considered a true friend was his colleague Akrobeto, with whom he once shared a strong bond during their early days in the film industry.
Agya Koo explained that though time and circumstances have kept them apart, Akrobeto continues to reach out to him from time to time to check in and share conversations about life.
“Since I was young, I’ve never really had a friend and I do not have any friend. The only person I ever considered a friend, someone I could visit, eat with, and share things like clothes and time with, was Akrobeto. But as life would have it, we don’t meet as often anymore.
“Still, he makes the effort to check on me, and we talk about many things. Honestly, I don’t know how to build friendships or how people just sit around and chat. I’ve never known how that’s done,” he said.
Reflecting on his life off-screen, Agya Koo admitted that he keeps to himself both on and off set, preferring to head straight home after filming rather than socializing with other actors or crew members.
He described himself as someone who has grown used to isolation, noting that he rarely leaves his home and spends most of his time indoors.
According to him, he hardly even steps outside to “see how the sun looks like,” a reflection of how much he values his peace and solitude over frequent human interaction.
