Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has once again stirred public debate on marriage, challenging the long-held belief that monogamy is biblically mandated.
Speaking on United Showbiz on October 26, 2025, the outspoken preacher said he does not believe in what many describe as an “ordained” or “white wedding,” arguing that it has no scriptural basis and was introduced to Africans through foreign influence.
Kumchacha maintained that the monogamous system contradicts African cultural values, insisting he would rather marry more than one wife.
“I have said this before, I support a man who marries two wives. Which pastor can quote a scripture from Genesis to Revelation to tell me that it is a sin to marry more than one wife? There is no scripture like that,” he stated.
He went on to argue that the type of marriage conducted in churches is not divinely established, adding that he would never participate in such a ceremony if he decided to marry.
According to the prophet, most couples who adopt what he calls the “white man’s style” of marriage often end up struggling in their relationships.
“There is nothing like a wedding in the Bible, and there is no way I would do a wedding because it is not in the Bible. If you check the statistics well, you’ll see that about 80% of men who marry using the white man’s style are on drugs, praying for healing. Also, out of 200 men, about 185 are having extramarital affairs,” he said.
Prophet Kumchacha concluded that many of these Western-influenced unions lack peace and fulfilment, claiming nearly 80 percent of them suffer from infidelity and emotional distress.
