“I Was Never Fired” – Roman Fada Clears the Air on His Relationship with Daddy Lumba

Roman Fada and Daddy Lumba

Philip Kwabena Agyeman Appiah-Kubi, known widely as Roman Fada, has rubbished reports claiming that the late Highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, famously called Daddy Lumba, dismissed him before his death.

In a conversation with Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, Roman Fada clarified that his bond with Daddy Lumba remained strong until the musician’s final days. He said their relationship was built on trust, loyalty, and mutual respect that never wavered.

“I had no issue with Daddy Lumba before he passed on. He loved me as his son, and I loved and respected him deeply,” Roman Fada said. “It’s laughable when I see these stories online claiming I was sacked. None of them are true. Both Lumba and I knew the bond we shared, we had no problems.”

He recalled moments that reflected their closeness, explaining that the late musician continued to rely on him for professional and personal matters. “When President Mahama organized a program for senior citizens, the invitation came through me and I gave it to Papa. He even asked me what to wear for the occasion, and I told him a suit would do,” he recounted. “He later asked me to complete a contractual deal that actor Wayoosi had brought before he died. How could a man who had sacked me ask me to handle his business?”

Roman Fada believes the rumours of his dismissal are deliberate attempts to damage his reputation and rewrite his history with the late star. “I came to serve, and I’m still serving Lumba even after his death,” he insisted.

His comments follow a public statement issued on November 6, 2025, by Daddy Lumba’s wife, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and his sister, Ms. Ernestina Brempomaa Fosuh. The family accused him of spreading misinformation about the funeral and misrepresenting himself as the manager for the musician.

According to the statement, Roman Fada was no longer part of Daddy Lumba’s management team before his death and held no legal or traditional right to represent the family. It also warned that further misrepresentation could lead to legal action.

Roman Fada, however, maintains that the family’s version of events is misleading. “Lumba and I never had any fallout. The love and respect we had for each other were genuine,” he reiterated.

The disagreement unfolds as preparations continue for Daddy Lumba’s funeral, tentatively scheduled for December 6, 2025. The date remains uncertain, as parts of the arrangements are still being reviewed in court.

Setting the record straight, Roman Fada said his only intention is to protect the legacy of the man he worked with for years. “People can say whatever they want,” he said softly. “But Papa knew my heart. I never betrayed him, and he never turned his back on me.”
