“Charles Is Not a Fowl” – Daddy Lumba’s Sister Rejects December 13 Funeral Plan

Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, Daddy Lumba and Ernestina Fosuh

The dispute over the final funeral rites of Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba) has intensified, as his elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh, publicly refused to accept the family’s newly selected burial date.

Her objection surfaced during a court appearance on Thursday, where she was present amid the lingering legal confrontation involving the late musician’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, and his partner, Odo Broni. That case runs parallel to another family action requesting both a fresh burial date and a formal probe into the circumstances surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death.

A video shared online on November 21, 2025, captured Ernestina speaking to the media after proceedings. She insisted she would not support plans by the family, led by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, to hold the funeral on December 13, 2025.

Ernestina argued that the proposed timeline denies her the opportunity to honour her brother with the proper ceremony she believes he deserves.

“Charles is not a fowl, so two weeks aren’t enough. Therefore, the funeral on December 13, 2025, will not take place… why are we rushing?” she said.
