Nana Agradaa Adopts New Identity in Prison as Angel Asiamah Reveals Fresh Chapter

Nana Agradaa and Angel Asiamah

Evangelist Patricia Asiamah has taken on a new identity while serving her sentence at the Nsawam Female Prison, her husband, Angel Asiamah, has revealed. He says the well-known preacher, long recognised as Nana Agradaa, now responds to the name Evangelist Josephine Asiamah.

Addressing members of Heaven’s Way Church on November 22, 2025, Angel Asiamah explained that his wife views the name change as a marker of spiritual renewal. He told the congregation that the shift represents a different stage in her journey. After discussing the change with her, he initially wondered why she chose Josephine, but later linked it to the biblical Joseph, who shared interpretations of dreams during his own time in captivity.

“My wife told me that over there in prison, her name has been changed, so the name she responds to now is Evangelist Josephine Asiamah, also known as Mama Pat. That is a new name, so it should tell you things are new in her life. Anyone who changes their name takes on a new life.

“When I came home that evening, I wondered why she would change her name to Josephine, and I remembered it could be because she is doing the works of Joseph in prison, spreading the word of God and interpreting dreams for inmates,” he said.

Angel Asiamah also pushed back against rumours about his wife’s appearance. He said reports suggesting her complexion had drastically changed during her nearly five months in custody were exaggerated. According to him, the shift in her skin tone is unsurprising given her current environment.

“Some people were claiming she had become dark. All Black people are dark, so if she looks dark, is it news? Sometimes good living can change your complexion. She lived in comfort, staying in air-conditioned rooms 24 hours a day. But she is an African and is now living in difficult conditions, so there’s nothing wrong with her looking dark,” he said.

Nana Agradaa was handed a fifteen-year sentence with hard labour after her conviction on fraud charges by an Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025. She is currently serving her sentence at the Nsawam Female Prison in the Eastern Region.
