Ibrahim Mahama Visits Tamale SHS to Check Progress on His Ambitious 1,600-Bed Dormitory Project

Ibrahim Mahama inspects Tamale SHS dormitory project

Businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama made an unannounced stop at Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO) on Saturday, using his time in the Northern Region to check on a major project he is personally financing.

Mahama had travelled to Salaga for a funeral, but diverted to his alma mater to assess progress on several infrastructure upgrades he has undertaken to sponsor. The centrepiece of the initiative is a 1,600-bed dormitory complex, a project revived in 2022 and now nearing completion, with contractors estimating that about 90 percent of the work is done.

During his tour of the site, Mahama interacted with staff and students, sharing his satisfaction with the pace of construction. “We’re almost there… this project will be completed on schedule, and I will continue to give TAMASCO the support it needs,” he assured the school community.

He took time to speak directly with students, urging them to stay focused on their goals. “Focus on your education because the future is yours, and we will continue to give you the support you need,” he said, reinforcing the importance of academic commitment.

Mahama also committed to improving campus lighting, noting that better illumination would enhance study conditions and promote safety. “We will ensure that the school has proper lighting so students can study comfortably and move safely around the campus,” he added.

Following the visit, bags of rice and other essential supplies were delivered to the school on Monday, November 24, 2025, as additional support for the student body.

Student leaders, according to a Graphic Online report, welcomed his continued involvement, with school prefect Abdul Rahman Baba describing the dormitory project as a significant boost to their learning environment. “We are very thankful to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for always supporting us and helping improve our school. We are truly grateful to him,” he stated.
