Pregnant Woman Found Murdered on Her Farm in Bono Region

Pregnant woman murdered in Yaw Wusukrom

The Bono Regional Police Command has begun an investigation into the gruesome killing of a 27-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Haggar Nyorkpatey, whose body was discovered on her farm at Yaw Wusukrom, a small farming community near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District.

Police say the victim, who was seven months pregnant, was found dead on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in what they believe to be a murder.

In a statement signed by the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the command said early findings showed that Nyorkpatey’s throat had been slit with a sharp object by an unknown attacker. Investigators also observed blood clots in her mouth and ear canal, along with foamy blood around her neck area, suggesting a violent struggle before her death.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was pregnant, her throat was cut with a sharp object, a blood clot was found in the mouth and ear canal. A foamy particle mixed with blood was also found on the neck area,” the police statement said.

The report added that a 57-year-old man, Charles Asante, lodged a complaint after his brother’s wife failed to return home from her farm that morning. According to him, she left for her field around 8:30 a.m. and never came back.

Community members launched a search party, which later found her lifeless body lying on her farm. Police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the woman’s throat had been slit, consistent with a homicide.

Authorities have since deposited the body at the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy while investigations continue to determine the motive and identify the perpetrator.

“Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime,” the police statement concluded.
