Morris Babyface is standing by his decision to walk away from secular music, insisting that the door to that phase of his career is firmly shut.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM with Nana Romeo, the veteran music producer said his full-time commitment to gospel music was not made on impulse but out of deep personal conviction. He acknowledged that the secular songs he once produced remain popular, yet said he feels no attachment that would pull him back into that space.
“I don’t have any problem with anyone playing the secular songs I produced. It reminds me of where I started from and where God has placed me in life,” he said.
According to Morris, the calls and visits from secular artistes have not slowed since his transition. He said many still seek his production skills, with some even offering money to persuade him to return. Despite the temptations, he said his stance has not changed.
“A lot of secular musicians come to me to produce their songs but I told them I no longer do that. Artistes who got their hits from the music I produced often come and try to bribe me with money but I declined the offer.
“No amount of money can make me produce secular songs anymore,” he stressed.
The producer said his attention is now solely on gospel projects and made it clear that any future collaboration must align with that direction. While he noted that his choice does not come from hostility toward secular music, he described it as a personal resolve he is determined to maintain.
“I decided to produce only gospel songs so if they want to still work with me, they should also divert to gospel. I’m not saying secular music is a sin but it’s a personal decision. No secular song has a better message than gospel songs,” Morris Babyface stated.
