Famous Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has revealed the driving force behind his decades-long dominance in the music scene.
In a candid exchange captured in a video shared by Apple Music, Afrobeat star KiDi pressed him on what fuels his relentless energy:
“I’ve always wanted to know what gets you out of bed to keep soldiering on after all these years of doing this. I’m very curious,” KiDi asked.
Sarkodie explained that his motivation comes from witnessing the success of fellow artistes.
“Whether people believe this or not, it’s because I see you guys doing this. Just the fact that I’m sitting here today talking to you—that’s what inspires me,” he said.
Reflecting on moments when he contemplated stepping back, Sarkodie credited the encouragement of others for keeping him in the game.
“There was a time I wanted to take a break, but somebody put a battery in my back and said, ‘Sarkodie, when you move, the people move.’ So just seeing you guys and what’s happening for Ghana—that’s why I’m doing this,” he stated.
