Court Adjourns Crucial Suit Aimed at Stopping Release of Daddy Lumba’s Body One Day Before Funeral

A fresh delay has emerged in the dispute over who controls the arrangements for the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known widely as Daddy Lumba, after the Accra High Court shifted its timeline on the matter.

The court, which met earlier on Thursday, December 11, 2025, announced that it will now issue its ruling on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10 am. The new date tightens the window for Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu, who has already circulated plans for the funeral.

The case was initiated by five members of the musician’s maternal family: Obaapanyin Afia Adomah Pakoso, Robert Gyamfi (Wofa Yaw Poku Asuafua), Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosuh, and Nana Afia Kobi Parkoso. They want the court to halt every step of the funeral preparations and place controls on memorial funds until the court reaches a final decision. Their request includes stopping the release of Daddy Lumba’s remains and freezing activities connected to the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation account until they give approval.

According to the plaintiffs, these measures are necessary to ensure no arrangements or financial dealings move forward without their consent.

Those listed as defendants are Kofi Owusu Abuakwa, CAL Bank Ghana, and Transitions Funeral Home in Accra.

After the brief sitting, the plaintiffs’ lawyer said his clients intend to wait patiently for the court’s direction and comply with whatever decision is issued.

This courtroom battle is unfolding separately from an appeal filed by Daddy Lumba’s first wife in Germany, who is also seeking to be recognised as the sole widow.
