Ghanaian Journalist Francis Owusu Ansah Passes On

Veteran Ghanaian journalist Francis Owusu Ansah, widely known in media circles as ‘Agama’, has passed away.

His death was announced on Thursday, October 23, 2025, following a brief illness. He died at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital, according to sources close to the family.

News of his passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, listeners, and industry players who remember him as a committed journalist and seasoned broadcaster whose voice shaped radio in the Bono Region and beyond.

Across a career that spanned more than two decades, Owusu Ansah worked with several radio stations, building a reputation for professionalism and versatility. He served as News Editor and General Manager at Shalom FM in Berekum, Storm FM in Sunyani, and Nimde3 FM, also in Sunyani. He also worked as Brands Manager for Might FM in Savelugu in the Northern Region.

Before joining Storm FM in 2012, he spent nine years at Space FM in Sunyani, where he rose to the position of News Editor. Earlier in his career, he briefly hosted a breakfast show at Max FM in Enchi before returning to Sunyani. He also contributed to print journalism as a correspondent for The Chronicle newspaper in the Bono Region.

Throughout his years in broadcasting, Agama handled a wide range of on-air roles. He presented morning and midmorning shows, hosted lunchtime and drive-time programmes, anchored sports segments, and regularly read the news at the various stations where he worked.

At the time of his death, Francis Owusu Ansah was serving as the manager of Virgin Kourt Hotel in Sunyani.

He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to journalism and broadcasting, remembered by colleagues and listeners alike for his commitment to the profession.
