Nana Agradaa Challenges Conviction; Court Fixes New Date for Appeal

The Amasaman High Court has pushed back the hearing of an appeal filed by evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, with judges now expected to return to the matter on February 5, 2026.

The appeal challenges both her conviction and the 15-year prison sentence imposed on July 3, 2025, after the court found her guilty of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence. Nana Agradaa is contesting the integrity of the trial, insisting that the proceedings were flawed and that the evidence relied upon did not support the guilty verdict. She has also argued that the sentence handed down was excessive.

Speaking to journalists after proceedings on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, said the adjournment stemmed largely from failures on the part of the Attorney-General’s Office to meet procedural requirements set earlier by the court.

He further noted that outstanding technical matters relating to electronic evidence needed for the appeal had yet to be resolved, contributing to the delay. Mr Baffour disclosed that the defence opposed an application from the Attorney-General’s Office seeking additional time to file its submissions.

After hearing arguments from both parties, the court settled on February 5 as the date to deliver its judgment, while leaving room for the Attorney-General’s Office to submit written addresses if it chooses.

“The court has adjourned the case to February 5, 2026, to deliver its judgment. By then, the Office of the Attorney-General will have the opportunity to file its written addresses, if it is minded to do so,” Mr Baffour stated, according to a report by Myjoyonline.
