Esther Smith Reveals Shaggy’s ‘Angel’ as Inspiration Behind Gospel Song ‘Nsuro’

Ghanaian gospel singer Esther Smith has opened up about the creative spark behind her hit song Nsuro.

Speaking in an interview with Kobby Kyei, she credited the rhythm of Jamaican artist Shaggy’s Angel as the inspiration for the track.

“There is a musician called Shaggy; that is where I got the inspiration for my ‘Nsuro’ song from. He has a song titled ‘Angel,’” Smith explained.

The famous gospel singer also disclosed that her songwriting process is far from conventional. She does not write her songs in the traditional sense, but instead receives them through divine guidance.

“I don’t go to the studio with a paper and pen; in fact, I have never done that before. All my 10 albums came through manifestations I received.

“Immediately I receive a song, the first thing I do is call Morris. I don’t even know where I got the gift from. Even when I go to the studio and the engineer delays, I don’t feel comfortable,” Esther Smith further stated.
