Police Arrest Three Over Fatal Mob Attack on Liberian in Lashibi

A 26-year-old Liberian died after a mob attack in Lashibi. Police have detained three suspects and launched a manhunt.

Three men are in custody after a 26-year-old Liberian was beaten to death near Lashibi, an incident police say stemmed from a case of mistaken identity.

The victim, Austin Tengeeh, was allegedly attacked by a group who suspected him of theft. Officers from the Sakumono District Police Command picked up three suspects in connection with the killing. They have been identified as Francis Amuzu, 44, William Adison, 36, and Vincent Adzikah, 34.

A situational report from the police indicates that on 27 February 2026, the Sakumono District Patrol Team received a distress call from an unidentified person who reported that a man had been assaulted by an angry crowd close to the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana at Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.

The patrol team moved swiftly to the location. When they arrived, they found Tengeeh unconscious on the ground, bearing visible injuries around his neck and head consistent with a violent assault.

He was rushed to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency treatment but was declared dead on arrival. His body has since been deposited at the facility’s morgue while the required diplomatic procedures are carried out due to his nationality.

Police believe others were involved in the attack. The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team at the National Police Headquarters has begun tracking additional suspects thought to have acted in concert with those already arrested.

Investigators say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend everyone connected to the killing, Graphic Online reported.
