Nana Agradaa Released After Court Reduces Jail Term

Nana Agradaa and Angel Asiamah after release

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, is back home after her prison term was cut short on appeal.

A video posted on Facebook on March 3, 2026, by her husband, Angel Asiamah, showed the Heavens Way International Ministry leader at her residence, surrounded by family. Dressed in white, the group appeared to be marking her return. Angel Asiamah accompanied the clip with the words, “Thank God my wife is finally home.”

Her release follows a ruling delivered on February 5, 2026, when she appeared before the Amasaman High Court to challenge her sentence. After lengthy proceedings, the court reduced the original 15-year custodial term to 12 months on counts two and three.

In addition to the revised jail term, the court imposed a fine of 200 penalty units, equivalent to GH₵2,400, and directed her to refund GH₵1,000 to her two complainants. Fines handed down on count one were left intact.

The presiding judge maintained her conviction but ruled that the initial sentence of 15 years with hard labour was excessive. Exercising judicial discretion, the court adjusted the punishment while upholding the findings of guilt.

The updated sentence was backdated to July 3, 2025, the date of her conviction, meaning the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry is to serve a total of one year.

An Accra Circuit Court had convicted Agradaa on July 3, 2025, on charges including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence. The prosecution’s case centered on a televised church service held at her Weija-based ministry in the Greater Accra Region.

During the broadcast, she promoted what was described as a money-doubling scheme, assuring congregants of extraordinary financial returns in exchange for cash contributions. Those assurances failed to materialise, prompting affected participants to file complaints.
